Yummy Bread

Adapted by Welcome in My Kitchen

This Yummy Bread recipe is a comforting homemade classic, bringing together simple ingredients to create a warm, fluffy loaf. The combination of dry yeast, sugar, and lukewarm water kickstarts the fermentation process, giving the bread its soft texture. The addition of hot milk, salt, and butter enriches the flavor, while the flour binds everything into a smooth, elastic dough. After a slow rise, the dough is shaped and baked to golden perfection at a high temperature, resulting in a deliciously tender crumb with a satisfying crust. Perfect for enjoying fresh with butter, jam, or cheese—it’s a timeless treat for any occasion.

Method:

  1. Crumble the yeast cake and mix with sugar and 125ml (½ cup) lukewarm water until smooth. Let it stand for 15–20 minutes until fermentation starts.
  2. Pour hot milk over salt and butter in a mixing bowl. Let it cool to lukewarm, then add 250ml (1 cup) lukewarm water.
  3. Add about 500ml (2 cups) flour to form a soft dough. Beat until smooth and elastic.
  4. Stir in the yeast mixture and mix until smooth again.
  5. Gradually add the remaining flour, kneading with enough lukewarm water to form a stiff, smooth dough. Knead until the dough no longer sticks to your hands.
  6. Place the dough in a mixing bowl, brush the top with melted butter, and let it rise until doubled in size (about 2 hours or longer).
  7. Shape the dough into loaves and place in bread pans. Let rise for 30–45 minutes.
  8. Bake in a hot oven at 200°C to 220°C (400°F to 425°F) until golden brown.
